RED CHAMPACA

Capturing the soul of a sacred flower

Some ingredients reveal themselves instantly. Others ask for patience, curiosity,
and the willingness to travel far beyond the laboratory.

It was with this spirit that MANE perfumers Cristiano Canali, Serge Majoullier
and Patricia Choux travelled to India to immerse themselves in the world of
Red Champaca (Michelia Champaca), a flower revered in Indian tradition and
one of perfumery’s most captivating raw materials.

To encounter Red Champaca in its natural environment is to understand that its
beauty lies in contrasts. Its luminous floral heart unfolds into creamy petals, ripe DARE TO BE
fruits, warm honey facets and delicate spices, creating an olfactory signature of
        extraordinary richness and depth.
                                                                                                                                                                   EXTRAORDINAIRE!

“There are flowers that you smell, and flowers that you experience. Red Champaca belongs
to the second category. Standing beneath the tree in bloom, you realize that no traditional
extract has ever fully conveyed the vibrant radiance of the living flower.”
                                     Cristiano Canali, Perfumer at MANE

Innovation in natural extraction C M

For perfumers, however, Red Champaca has always represented a paradox. While its traditional absolute possesses Y
remarkable olfactive richness, its naturally deep ruby-red colour significantly limits its use in modern fragrance formulations, CM
especially when colour stability and formulation transparency are essential. This challenge inspired MANE’s research MY
teams to push the boundaries of extraction. CY

Thanks to E-PURE JUNGLE ESSENCE™ extraction technology, MANE has captured a new expression of Red Champaca: CMY
a crystal-clear extract that faithfully preserves the flower’s authentic scent while eliminating the colour constraints of the K
traditional absolute. More than a technical achievement, it reveals the flower in all its natural radiance, unveiling its luminous
floral character, velvety petals and nectar-like warmth just as they are experienced on the tree.

“Innovation is most meaningful when it disappears behind the emotion. Our ambition
was never simply to decolourise an extract, it was to preserve the living soul of the flower.
The result expands our palette, allowing Red Champaca to enter compositions where it was
previously difficult, or even impossible, to use.” Serge Majoullier, Master Perfumer at MANE

        The soul behind the scent

Yet perhaps the greatest achievement lies elsewhere. The journey to India reminded the perfumers that every raw material
carries a landscape, a climate and the people who cultivate it. Technology can preserve molecules, but its highest purpose
is to preserve emotion. With E-PURE JUNGLE ESSENCE™, MANE offers perfumers a more faithful encounter with one of
India’s most captivating floral treasures, revealing Red Champaca in all its luminous authenticity, exactly as nature intended.

“When you visit the place where an ingredient is born, you stop thinking
about it as a raw material. It becomes a story, a landscape, a culture.
Every fragrance created with Red Champaca now carries a fragment
of that journey.” Patricia Choux, Senior Perfumer at MANE
